Round Up to Change Kids’ Health with Ace Hardware this April!

Ace Hardware customers like the reward of transformation. The ability to build, create and improve. That’s why the helpful place makes it easy to create lasting change, including how Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, a member of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, cares for kids.

Children’s Hospitals are on the frontlines when it comes to protecting the health of future generations, but, they can’t do it alone.

That’s why, this April, participating Ace Hardware locations invite you to round up your purchase and provide needed funds for local member hospitals that support the health of kids treated throughout Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore and northeastern North Carolina.

Round up for kids is a great way to give back to support kids and their families at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters where they can transform how they meet the most urgent needs, save more lives and protect the health of future generations.

Your donations help Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals support the health of kids like Jason Jones. Jason was riding his bike down the sidewalk near his Chesapeake home when he was struck by a car and pinned under its tire. Fortunately, Jason, who was 5 at the time, was wearing a helmet. Seconds later, the drive pulled his car forward to release Jason, and 911 was called.

Jason was rushed to CHKD, home to the region’s only Level 1 pediatric trauma center. His mom, Coreen, remembers an army of medical staff waiting for them when they arrived at the emergency department. Both of Jason’s lungs were collapsed. He had a broken collarbone, a fractured rib, and bleeding in his liver.

What happened next makes Jason’s mom believe that this accident was a “blessing in disguise.” While the trauma team at CHKD worked to save Jason’s life, they also discovered that his intestines had a congenital defect that, if left untreated, could be fatal. Thankfully, CHKD surgeons were able to correct it immediately.

“CHKD saved his life twice that day,” says Coreen. “I am so incredibly grateful to CHKD.”

Now 9 years old, Jason is completely healed from his physical injuries. His mom says you’d never know he suffered such a traumatic event.

Shop at your participating Ace Hardware and give your change so Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters can continue to ensure our children lead healthy, fulfilling lives and foster the builders, crafters and creators of tomorrow.

When we change kids’ health, we change the future – for all of us.
