Walmart & Sam’s Club Associates Rally to Change Kids’ Health at CHKD

Walmart and Sam’s Club associates are sparking good at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia, through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) now through July 14.

Associates at Hampton Roads, northeastern North Carolina and Eastern Shore locations are once again positively impacting kids’ health in our community by coming together to enthusiastically support this year’s campaign. You can donate in store at Walmart and Sam’s Club, on Walmart.com and in the Walmart app. Each dollar raised locally supports CHKD’s radiology department and ensures patients get the care they desperately need today, so that they can fulfill their potential for tomorrow.

Associates like Fresh Team Lead Desmond, at Walmart Neighborhood Market Chesapeake – Kempsville Road. When Desmond was born, his doctors told his mother the heartbreaking news that her son might not make it. At 16 weeks old, Desmond’s small, fragile body had to endure his first open heart surgery, followed by a second one at age 12. Desmond has had over 15 cardiac catheterizations (this involves the insertion of a narrow tube into the heart through an artery to examine how well the heart is functioning). Desmond and his family are forever grateful to CHKD for saving his life, and for the support they provided during the most difficult time. Today, Desmond shares his story to inspire others to support Walmart and Sam’s Clubs fundraising campaign.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals like CHKD couldn’t help kids like Desmond without the generosity of millions of customers and members who shop in their stores, clubs and online.

Partners like Walmart and Sam’s Club make giving easy and help hospitals meet critical needs, providing healthier communities today and tomorrow. Thanks to you, Walmart and Sam’s Clubs for helping change kids’ health to change the future at CHKD.
