Radiothon Results Are In *Drum Roll Please*!

This year has been like no other and has proven to throw all sorts of challenges into the universe. There’s been toilet paper shortages and hand sanitizer frenzies, stock market roller coasters, and a new trend of remote learning; all of which have sent people into a tailspin seeking shelter until 2020 ends. There is one thing, however, that did not miss a beat and that’s the outpouring support received from the Hampton Roads community during the 19th annual 94.9 The Point Radiothon benefiting Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, Virginia.

It was a three day extravaganza held in early November that featured inspiring stories from both patients and families who have experienced lifesaving care at CHKD. Radiothon is normally held in the hospital lobby and the in person aspects of it encourages bystanders to share their story, give a shout out to a special nurse or doctor, and/or make a gift. Due to the novel Coronavirus pandemic, Radiothon was re imagined into a virtual event where zoom, texting, and phone calls were front and center. Thanks to our sponsors and Mike and Woo Woo from 94.9 The Point it was a seamless transition and the results were extraordinary!

The amount of support garnered from CHKD’s Radiothon is a testament to the community’s dedication and commitment to kids all throughout Hampton Roads. These funds will directly impact the future of so many kids seeking critical medical care at CHKD and provide them a better tomorrow. A special shout out to our sponsors at STIHL, Langley FCU, GEICO, Ford, Kroger, Cavalier Ford and the CHAS Foundation – all giving both time and money to arguably one of the most vulnerable populations. This year’s Radiothon would not have been possible without their philanthropic support.
