Walmart and Sam’s Club Step Up to #HelpKidsLiveBetter at CHKD!

Despite a challenging year, local Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers, and members joined forces to change kids’ health and change the future during the annual #HelpKidsLiveBetter campaign for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Hampton Roads Walmart and Sam’s Club locations raised $319,000 for Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia, an increase over the 2019 campaign. The effort was part of a national campaign that raised more than $39 million for children’s hospitals across the country. To date, total fundraising from Walmart and Sam’s Club for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is more than $1 billion.

Donations were collected beginning June 22 as Walmart and Sam’s Club associates held various in-store fundraising activities and asked customers and members at the register to help kids live better. The campaign was extended through July 31 to continue accepting roundup donations at the register, on Walmart.com and on the Walmart app.

Associates at Walmart #1527 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, hosted a drive in movie night fundraiser during the campaign, which helped them  double their 2019 total!

Children’s hospitals are on the frontline of the COVID-19 crisis, while also continuing to provide the high-quality, life-saving care that children need every day. Money raised at Walmart and Sam’s Club helps transform how we meet the most urgent needs, saving more lives and protecting our collective future. All funds raised at Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore and northeastern North Carolina Walmart and Sam’s Club locations directly benefit the kids treated at CHKD.

Walmart and Sam’s Club joined the CMN Hospitals fundraising family in 1987 with Sam Walton himself being personally involved in the beginning of the relationship between the organizations. The #HelpKidsLiveBetter campaign supports Walmart’s goal of giving back to local communities.
