Remarkable Results: Walmart and Sam’s Club Campaign Yields $205,649 for CHKD

Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, Virginia is profoundly grateful to announce the resounding success of the recent Walmart and Sam’s Club Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaign (June 9 – July 6). The outpouring of support from our community, coupled with the unwavering commitment of Walmart and Sam’s Club, has yielded an extraordinary $205,649 to further our mission of Health, Healing and Hope for All Children.

CHKD patients benefit from the full range of pediatric specialists and support services available only at freestanding children’s hospitals. Every inch of our facility and all members of our medical team are devoted exclusively to the comfort of young people, including our pediatric radiologists who are specially trained to understand the unique needs of children, parents and pediatricians in the diagnostic process. They receive extra training that makes the uniquely qualified to read diagnostic images like X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs. In addition, all of our equipment, procedures, and staff members are oriented to children’s special needs.

The radiology department performs more than 100,000 x-rays, fluoroscopic tests, urodynamics, bone density tests, CT, MRI scans, ultrasound, PVL and nuclear medicine studies every year.

Walmart and Sam’s Club have raised more than $13.8 million for CHKD, including more than $11 million to support our radiology department since 2002.
