Help change kids’ future at your local Rite Aid!

This year, more than ever, kids in Hampton Roads need your help. Customers can help kids treated at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) when they shop at local Rite Aid locations. Kids like Julian, who just wants to live a normal life that’s not filled with pain.

Julian was diagnosed with glycogen storage disorder that impairs the function of his liver and muscles, when he was just 18 months old. He endures constant muscle pain and fatigue, and uses a wheelchair when he gets tired. It’s a constant race against the clock  to keep his blood sugar within a safe range, and at age 6, he needed a gastrostomy tube to help with his constant feedings.

For a kid who already felt so different than all his friends, this procedure brought on anxiety and depression. His parents turned to CHKD for help. Here, he’s learned coping mechanisms for what he describes as his “really bad days”. Going for a walk, taking a bath, and listening to music are some of his strategies.

Rite Aid has raised more than $1 million for pediatric patients, like Julian, treated at our hospital since 1996. These funds will help families impacted by these extraordinary times we’ve been through this year by allowing us to offer appointments via telehealth, addressing the effects this national trauma is having on the emotional well-being of our children, and ensuring the ongoing availability of CHKD’s critical services for the children of our region.

Supporters of our hospital can help sick and injured kids by visiting a local Rite Aid and donating $1 or more at the register.

At CHKD, we know that kids can’t wait for a cure or for a vaccine. And the need for charitable care is greater than ever. Funds raised in Hampton Roads will help ensure that kids don’t wait for their personal healthcare needs to be addressed.

You can help change kids’ health and change their future.
